Garden Reach Shipbuilders signs MoU with Bharat Forge arm for defence, maritime innovation
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers signed an MoU with Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited on March 5, 2026, to develop indigenous naval systems and enhance maritime defence technologies. GRSE shares rose ₹94.25 or 4.07% to ₹2,407.55 on BSE today, March 5.
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bharat Forge arm Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) to jointly develop and promote indigenous solutions for advanced naval systems and maritime technologies.
The MoU was signed on March 5, 2026, with the aim of strengthening collaboration in developing strategic maritime capabilities for both domestic and global markets. The partnership will focus on building indigenous solutions for advanced naval systems, unmanned platforms and other maritime defence technologies.
Under the collaboration, the two companies plan to work together across a wide spectrum of maritime and defence systems. These include ship propulsion and mechanical systems for naval and commercial vessels, integrated platform management systems, steering and stabiliser assemblies, and deck equipment.
The partnership will also explore opportunities in unmanned platforms such as unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The companies will jointly identify and pursue potential opportunities in India as well as in mutually agreed international markets.
The agreement was signed by Shantanu Bose, Director (Shipbuilding) at GRSE, and Ajay Sharma, Vice President – Marine Systems at Bharat Forge Ltd, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

The collaboration seeks to combine GRSE’s experience in shipbuilding and maritime engineering with KSSL’s capabilities in designing and manufacturing advanced defence platforms and systems. The partnership is also expected to support India’s push for self-reliance by promoting indigenisation and technological collaboration in defence and maritime systems.
