Krafton India ropes in Ranveer Singh as BGMI brand ambassador

Krafton India, the company behind the BGMI, has announced a collaboration in India. Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been named the official brand ambassador for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). 

Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO, Krafton India, expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership, stating, "We are elated to welcome Superstar Ranveer Singh to the BGMI family. With this collaboration, Krafton will launch the Play Pure campaign that aims to celebrate the pure-ness in players through the lens of superstar Ranveer Singh, says the company. As a part of the campaign, BGMI players will be urged to be bold and celebrate their authenticity in the Battlegrounds.

Akshay Kumar's Capsule Gill gets a new title - Mission Raniganj

Following the success of OMG 2, Akshay Kumar is all set to be back to the big screen in the month of October with Tinu Suresh Desai's next film produced by Pooja Entertainment. The latest we hear is that the team of this Jaswant Singh Gill Biopic is all ready to launch the first teaser of the film this week. According to sources close to the development, a 1-minute long teaser will be launched on Akshay Kumar's Birthday - September 9.

"A thrilling edge-of-the-seat teaser of the film is cut and ready to be launched on Akshay Kumar's birthday. It's Khiladi's gift to all the fans," revealed a source close to the development to Bollywood Hungama. According to the source, there has been a title change too for this Jaswant Singh Gill Biopic.

"The team has contemplated several titles over the last few months. The film was initially titled Capsule Gill. But soon after, Jackky Bhagnani decided to change the title to The Great Indian Escape. The film then underwent another change of title to The Great Indian Rescue. And now, finally, they have locked the title Mission Raniganj," the source told Bollywood Hungama further.

The film is ready to release on October 6 across the country and the makers are all charged up to make it another memorable experience for the audience after OMG 2. The teaser will be followed by a trailer and then a song finally leading to the film's release. The film pairs Akshay Kumar with Parineeti Chopra after Kesari.

Jaane Jaan trailer launch: Saif Ali Khan warned Kareena Kapoor Khan about Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat’s acting prowess: “He told me, 'Stop being the backbencher. Aage ke bench mein aake kuch karo'”

The trailer of Jaane Jaan was held at a studio in central Mumbai. The set resembled Kalimpong and it added to the mystery and intrigue. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat attended the fun-filled event along with director Sujoy Ghosh, producers Jay Shewakramani and Akshai Puri and Netflix India Content Head Monika Shergill. The most memorable moment of the trailer launch was when Kareena talked about her hubby Saif Ali Khan’s warning to her.

Before Kareena Kapoor Khan spoke about it, Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat revealed that they were classmates at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. Kareena was asked if she intimidated them or if was it vice versa. Kareena replied, “They intimidated me! They were quite prepared. Saif had told me, 'It’s not like van se make-up laga kar tum set pe jaake dialogue bologi! Please stop this attitude. You are working with Jaideel Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. Be prepared to be on your toes. They are going to be improvising. It won't be a picnic'. So, he had warned me. Hence, like a student, I was constantly alert. Saif even said, 'Stop being the backbencher. Aage ke bench mein aake kuch karo'. I was like, 'Yeah yeah'!”

Kareena Kapoor Khan continued, “I was constantly watching them. Jaideep is quite prepared and composed. I have realised that Vijay is a bit like me in the sense that he's laughing and all on the set. But all his takes are different from the others. And it’s also very well thought out. Being in this environment, I was also on my toes and I am happy I was. I believe that an actor should constantly be threatened by other actors on the set.”

She then looked at Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat and joked, “Sab aapke baare mein accha bol rahe hai, that you guys went to FTII and all. Mere baare mein bhi kuch accha bolo!”

At this, Jaideep remarked, “Aap kitni bhi tayyari kar ke aa jaao set pe, jab aap Kareena Kapoor ke saamne khade hote ho, jab aap unki aankhon mein dekh ke line bolni padti hai na, toh camera bhi hilne lagta hai! Aadmi chod do aap!”

Vijay added to the laughter as he said, “I want to thank Saif Ali Khan. Agar woh nahin hote, toh (Kareena) ko pata bhi nahin hota (ki main kaun hoon)!”

Trade predicts that Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan can collect Rs. 70 crores on day 1 to become the BIGGEST Hindi film EVER

Shah Rukh Khan’s previous release Pathaan (2023) was released on a non-holiday and collected Rs. 57 crores. On the second day, Republic Day, the collections jumped to Rs. 70.50 crores. Trade experts feel that SRK’s upcoming film, Jawan, which releases on September 7, can cross this record-breaking number.

When asked to predict the first-day number, trade analyst Atul Mohan answered, “In all languages, the film can collect Rs. 70 crores or even Rs. 80 or Rs. 90 crores. Kuch bhi ho sakta hai.” When asked about the Hindi version, he said, “It’ll collect more than Pathaan. The release day will be around Rs. 70 crores.”

Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar exulted, “It’ll collect more than Pathaan. On day 1, it’ll earn between Rs. 65 and 70 crores.”

Raj Bansal, the owner of Entertainment Paradise in Jaipur predicted, “I am expecting it to collect Rs. 65 crores plus on Thursday. That will be a phenomenal day number.” He observed, “The performance of the previous film of an actor matters a lot when it comes to the advance ticket sales of his next film. After Pathaan, there’s no looking back for Shah Rukh Khan.”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst said, “If I talk about the weekend, it’ll collect Rs. 300-350 GBOC gross for all languages. Janmashtami is a big holiday in the North and hence, Jawan will benefit. It’ll collect Rs. 100 crores on day 1 worldwide gross.”

Vishek Chauhan is hoping Jawan crosses the century mark on its day of release, “I want a Hindi film to do Rs. 100 crore net business on Day 1 so that it gives the right direction and hope, it inspires exhibitors to open their cinemas and it motivates producers to make this kind of cinema.”

Pathaan is currently the biggest Hindi grosser as it collected Rs. 543.05 crores nett in India. Taran Adarsh, Girish Johar and Vishek Chauhan confessed that Jawan has all the chances to go past this number. Raj Bansal, however, said, “It’ll be too early to comment because it depends on content. The music hasn’t worked as expected. The songs aren’t chartbusters.”

Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani selected for Busan International Film Festival 2023

The much-appreciated Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles has been selected for the Busan International Film Festival 2023. The film, helmed by Karan Johar, has been selected in the Open Cinema section. It is one of the five movies in the section which includes France’s Dogman and The Animal Kingdom, Japan’s Revolver Lily, and Hong Kong’s One More Chance. The program schedule is yet to be announced.

The Busan International Film Festival has grown from Korea's first international film festival to Korea's largest and has become a film festival loved by many filmmakers and audiences not only in Asia but also in the world. The 2023 festival will commence on October 4 and conclude on October 13, 2023. A total of 269 films will be screened this year.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marked the return of Karan Johar as a director after seven years. The film has received a positive response across the board. The film also stars Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Churni Ganguly, Aamir Bashir and Anjali Anand. With Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma starrer Jaane Jaan set to release on September 21 on Netflix, production house 12th Street Entertainment is ready to take us for another thrilling ride. While their upcoming slate is packed, the production house is thrilled to be working on several projects. Amongst them is the sequel to Bhoot Police. The sequel, which has been in the works, has been officially announced by the producer.

Bhoot Police released in 2021 and stars Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam. It was directed by Pawan Kripalani. The horror-comedy is now getting a second installment. However, the cast and the other details are under wraps. Back in October 2022, Saif Ali Khan told Bollywood Hungama, “I loved the script and I liked my role in Bhoot Police. It continues to be one of the most watched films on that platform, and they are very keen to do a sequel.”

Additionally, 12th Street Entertainment is also gearing up for the remake of the 2010 South Indian neo-noir film Aaranya Kaandam. The Tamil-language crime drama, written and directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, stars Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj, Yasmin Ponnappa, Guru Somasundaram and Master Vasanth. The film was released in 2010.

With successful films like Badla, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, and Gaslight, a psychological thriller starring Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey and Chitrangada Singh in its repertoire, producer Akshai Puri is currently gearing up for several projects. Earlier this week, the makers of the movie unveiled the title of the movie as Jaane Jaan which is inspired by an iconic song sung by Lata Mangeshkar of the same name from the 1969 film Intaqam, picturized on Helen. The song is written by Rajinder Krishan whereas it was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

The Netflix movie Jaane Jaan is expected to feature him in a never-before-seen avatar of a genius mathematician. For the unversed, the upcoming thriller is an adaptation of the Japanese novel Devotion of Suspect X written by Higashino Keig and the movie is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Ameesha Patel reveals Kareena Kapoor was asked to leave from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai; says, “She didn’t back out”

Following the resounding success of Gadar 2, Ameesha Patel has been making headlines with her candid interviews, where she doesn't shy away from addressing the past and sharing intriguing insights. After previously revealing that her relationship with Gadar director Anil Sharma was less than harmonious, she has now dropped another bombshell, this time concerning Kareena Kapoor and her debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.

She explained, “Actually, she didn’t back out. From what Rakesh ji told me, he asked her to leave the film because they were having differences.”

The departure of Kareena Kapoor left the production team in a state of shock, considering significant investments had been made, sets were ready, and a replacement for the character Sonia needed to be found within just three days. Ameesha Patel recounted the challenges faced at the time, particularly since KNPH marked Hrithik Roshan's debut, creating immense pressure for the entire team. Ameesha further revealed that Rakesh Roshan had noticed her at a wedding, which ultimately led to her being cast in the pivotal role. She said, “Pinky aunty told me that the day Rakesh saw me at the wedding, he did not sleep all night. He was like ‘I got my Sonia, I got my Sonia, but I hope she says yes’.” Ameesha cherished the memory of working with Rakesh Roshan during the making of KNPH, as he frequently praised her dedication and professionalism, referring to her as a “blessing in disguise.”

The Nun II STRUGGLES to get screens as theatres prefer to allot almost all shows to Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan

The industry, trade and moviegoers are gearing up for the release of Jawan, starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The social media and entertainment news websites are regularly reporting about the insane ticket sales and it has further enhanced the excitement for the action entertainer. However, Jawan is not the only major release on September 7. The Nun II will also arrive in theatres on the same day. With Jawan getting an unprecedented response from the advance ticket sales, the Hollywood horror film is finding it very tough to get screens.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Warner Bros team is in constant touch with the multiplex chain and other theatres. They are aware that Jawan is a very big opposition. Hence, they are asking for limited shows. Even then, many theatre owners don’t seem interested.”

The source continued, “Warner Bros was one of the first ones to release films in cinemas in 2020 when most producers preferred to wait for normalcy or released their films directly on OTT. This was a time when the studio released not just big-ticket films like Tenet (2020) and Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) but also smaller films. It was done in the larger interest of the theatres so that they have content to play and the habit of watching films in cinemas is re-cultivated among audiences. And now, the theatres are showing their back to the same studio that supported them in tough times.”

The source also added, “And it’s not like The Nun II will not find an audience. It’s a huge franchise. The previous part, The Nun (2018), collected Rs. 8 crores on day 1 and had lifetime earnings of Rs. 46.46 crores. The Nun II can also have healthy collections if it’s given a chance. Just last month, the monstrous blockbuster Gadar 2 set the box office on fire. But it wasn’t the only release. OMG 2 was also released on the same day and did huge business. Similarly, Evil Dead Rise, also backed by Warner Bros, clashed with Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan on Eid 2023 and collected Rs. 36.50 crores. The same model can be successfully applied with Jawan and The Nun II as well.”

An exhibitor on condition of anonymity said, “The single-screens have no choice but to play Jawan, looking at the response. The multiplexes should release The Nun II. Another source said, “The Nun II will be able to get a minimum of 1000 screens. Things will be resolved in a few days.” The horror film releases not just in English but also in dubbed Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions.

Meanwhile, there are chances that Warner Bros will release Barbie in IMAX in India on September 22. The blockbuster film will be released with extra footage.

Kajol receives an award for her performance in the web series The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha

Kajol's portrayal of Noyonika in her recent outing on Disney+ Hotstar's The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha has captivated audiences. She played the role of a highly relatable woman who takes charge of her life during the most challenging phase. The show has received overwhelming appreciation from audiences, and Kajol's role has been widely loved. To celebrate her performance, NBT Utsav honored her with the 'Outstanding Performance of the Year' award for the show.

When the show was launched during July, Kajol had expressed her excitement for taking up such a power packed role. Opening up about shooting for the web show, Kajol had said, "We had an absolutely great time on set. I do love legal drama but I didn't really go into detail and exact legalities of things. You know some laws are very common in the Indian system and we all know about it. However, I do have a vague understanding of what is allowed and what isn't. We had a lawyer on set to help us through the process.”

Furthermore, she had also expressed her love for the filmmaker Suparn Varma and had also spoken about her camaraderie with the others on the show. “Suparn was like our gang leader. He just made sure that we were all comfortable around each other as far the dialogues and other aspects were concerned. I think everybody was pretty much a veteran on set, everybody worked on many films before this, have done a lot of work, been in the industry for years. So, it was really comfortable, easy and good fun,” she had added.

Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire now expected to either clash with Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 on Diwali or release on November 24

Yesterday, speculations began that the much-awaited film, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, will not release on September 28, as scheduled. As expected, it led to pandemonium in the market. After all, the action entertainer is one of the biggest films of Indian cinema in terms of cost and grandeur. Its postponement would mean that the release calendar might be affected. The makers didn’t confirm but when Fukrey 3 took the September 28 slot, it became clear that Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire has indeed got pushed. Today, the makers of the film finally admitted to the change of release date. In a press release sent out by the makers, it is stated the probability of the film releasing in November is high. The sources in the industry, however, are confident that Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is confirmed for a November 2023 release.

But yet again, the makers have added to the confusion in the absence of a release date. Meanwhile, many in the industry feel that there’s a high chance that Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire will arrive in cinemas on Diwali 2023 and thus clash with Salman Khan-starrer Tiger 3.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Diwali will be an ideal period for Salaar since the back-to-back holidays will give a boost to the collections of the film all over India. At the same time, it’ll have to co-exist with Tiger 3. In fact, both films are big-scale action films meant for audiences of all kinds. This will be an epic clash on the lines of Dil vs Ghayal and Lagaan vs Gadar.”

The source further said, “We’ll see maara-maari happening for shows like never before. Both studios have a clout and will pressurize exhibitors for maximum showcasing. This is subject to Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire releasing on the Festival of Lights. In the larger interest of the industry, we hope that the makers immediately give out a release date to end speculations.”

Another source says, “Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire can also be released on November 24. It’ll be a time when the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be over. So, it's either November 10 or November 24. It won't release on the pre-Diwali Friday of November 3. November 17 is ruled out for sure as the World Cup finals are on Sunday, November 19. Let’s wait for the official announcement.”

Tiger 3 belongs to the YRF Spy Universe. The new poster was unveiled earlier in the day which states that the film follows the events of Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019) and Pathaan (2023). Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi also star in this film, which has a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan. Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, meanwhile, is directed by KGF director Prashanth Neel and also features Shruti Haasan.

Meanwhile, the director is working on the post-production, the makers, Hombale Films will soon announce the new release date of the film."

Readers may be aware that the festival season of Diwali will be kicking in mid-November this year and the dates for the same are scheduled for the release of the highly anticipated movie in the YRF spy series Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi. So, it will be interesting to see which date the makers of Salaar will be finalizing for its release.

Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan to share screen in Sujoy Ghosh's thriller: Report

Suhana Khan, the daughter of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is all set to make her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar's upcoming Netflix film, The Archies. However, it seems that her foray into acting won't be limited to the small screen alone. Recent reports suggest that Suhana is poised to make her theatrical debut alongside her father, SRK. REVEALED: CBFC removes derogatory mention of Rakesh Roshan from Hindi version of Rajinikanth’s Jailer

The month of August was a great one for the industry thanks to the performance of films like Gadar 2, OMG 2, Jailer, Dream Girl 2 and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The Hindi version of Jailer didn’t get adequate shows due to the release of too many films. But it managed to trend quite well, surprising trade and industry since all the dubbed Hindi versions of South films that were released earlier in 2023 had flopped. But this Tamil blockbuster was an exception as it found takers in Hindi.

Bollywood Hungama has now learnt that the Hindi version of the Rajinikanth starrer suffered a few cuts. As per the cut list, three modifications were requested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The visuals of the beheaded body were reduced and replaced with suitable shots. Similarly, the visuals of Muthu (Rajinikanth) holding a sliced ear were modified.

And that’s not all. The CBFC’s examining committee also asked for an audio cut. It asked the makers to remove the mention of blockbuster filmmaker Rakesh Roshan as ‘the name was used in a derogatory context’.

Once these changes were carried out, the Hindi version of Jailer was given a censor certificate on August 8. The film was passed with a U/A rating with the final run time of 165 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Hindi version of Jailer, like the original version, was released in cinemas on August 10.

The Tamil version of Jailer suffered more cuts. It went through 11 modifications, most of which were of violent and gory visuals being modified or removed. In a rare instance, the CBFC asked for the blood splash level in a few scenes to be reduced. A few changes in the dialogues were also carried out after which the censor certificate was granted on July 27, 2023.

Rakesh Roshan was recently in the news when his much-loved sci-fi classic, Koi Mil Gaya (2003), starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta, completed 20 years on August 8. Then last week, when Chandryaan-3 mission was successful, the West Bengal Chief Minister mistakenly referred to Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma as Rakesh Roshan. The video clip went viral in no time.

YRF launches the first poster of Tiger 3; reveals it’s a follow up of Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Pathaan

Aditya Chopra is building the YRF Spy Universe brick by brick and his next offering is Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif which is slated for release this Diwali. On September 2, YRF launched the first poster of this action entertainer, and it promises to be an insane, jaw-dropping action spectacle as two super-spies Tiger and Zoya take on their most deadly mission yet. Furthermore, the poster also makes a reference to the rest of the films in the spy universe including Tiger Zinda Hai as well as the Hrithik Roshan starrer War and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan.

Tiger aka Salman Khan is the OG of the YRF Spy Universe as Ek Tha Tiger (2012) silently put the plan in motion to create slick super-spies that Indian cinema has never seen before. It was Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai’s (2017) success that cemented Aditya Chopra’s belief that he could incorporate two more larger-than-life agents Kabir aka Hrithik Roshan in War and Pathaan aka Shah Rukh Khan into his ambitious plans. It was in Pathaan that Aditya Chopra officially revealed that he was building the YRF Spy Universe, which is now the biggest IP in Indian cinema. The crossover of characters from this ambitious spy universe also started with Pathaan, which saw a union of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in an adrenaline pumping action sequence that celebrated the superstardom of these two cinematic icons.

YRF has officially revealed in the first poster of Tiger 3 that the plot of this film, the fifth from the blockbuster YRF Spy Universe, will follow the events of Tiger Zinda Hai, War & Pathaan. It signals YRF’s intent to tell audiences and fans that every film featuring these super-spies will be interconnected. Tiger 3 has been directed by Maneesh Sharma and it is also expected to star Emraan Hashmi as the antagonist.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai couple Harshad Chopda and Pranali Rathod to exit the show post leap; report

Just a day ago, Star Plus announced the change in star cast of Imlie, currently featuring Megha Chakraborty as Imlie’s daughter Imlie and Karan Vohra as Atharva Rana. While this Athlie couple will soon be quitting the show and will be replaced by Adrija Roy and Sai Ketan Rao, the next leap is expected to take place in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Both shows have been one of the top TRP rated Indian serials on television and now we hear that Harshad Chopda, who plays Abhimanyu Birla, as well as Pranali Rathod who is seen as Akshara Birla, will be exiting the show too.

Ardent followers of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai would be aware that this would be third generation leap that the serial will be witnessing after Hina Khan was replaced by Shivangi Joshi and the latter was replaced by Pranali Rathod. Recent reports suggest that Pranali along with her co-star Harshad Chopda are planning to quit the show, with the makers planning to take the story forward with a leap. However, the makers have not confirmed any details and there have been no updates on the cast either.

In the recent episodes, fans of Abhinav and Akshara were in for a shock when Jay Soni aka Abhinav died in an accident in the show. Suneel Darshan accuses Sunny Deol of 27-year-old Rs 77.25 lakh debt: “This man is not even ready to respect the court’s verdict”

Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Suneel Darshan has made shocking allegations against actor Sunny Deol, further escalating the latter's recent troubles. Amidst the success of his blockbuster film, Gadar 2, Sunny Deol faced accusations of failing to repay a bank loan of Rs 56 crore. Now, Darshan has claimed that the actor owes him Rs 77.25 lakh, a pending debt dating back to 1996, spanning a staggering 27 years.

In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Suneel Darshan revealed that he had relentlessly pursued Sunny Deol for the unpaid sum, eventually resorting to legal action. The dispute centres on the distribution rights of their film Ajay, sought by Sunny in 1996 as he aimed to launch an international film distribution venture.

Darshan asserts that, despite persuading Sunny to collect the funds from London, the actor obtained documents from him but failed to fulfil the promised payment once he acquired the film prints.

Darshan further claimed, “In the court, Sunny claimed he did not have the money to give me and promised to do a film with me. Then, he would ask for changes in the script or claim a lack of dates and never completed the film. Basically, he never intended to pay my money.”

The filmmaker further expressed his frustration, stating, "It has been almost 27 years, and I am still running around in circles for the court case. This man is not even ready to respect the court's verdict." The established amount owed by Sunny Deol, according to Darshan, totals Rs 1.77 crore.
